My idea is that we merge or commit directly to dev for new features or bugs or whatever, then when we're ready for a new release, we create a new MR to merge dev into main. This MR will always have a commit to bump the version. This MR also builds the app in release mode, but doesn't publish just yet, once the MR has been merged, then we take the release binaries and publish them.
